As the build-up to the launch of Titanic Belfast continues to thrill and excite us, we’ve been wondering when someone would eventually book it for a wedding, and hey presto, on Valentines Day it was confirmed.
A local couple have achieved a first, they have done ‘the’ pose…. the Titanic Winslett and DiCaprio pose that is, outside the iconic building. They may be the first, but I’m sure they won’t be the last to strike the pose at the Titanic sized building. In another first, Lynsay Smith from Lisburn and Brian Evans from Newtownards will also be the first couple to celebrate their marriage in the fabulous Titanic Suite. And what a location! The suite takes over the top two floors of Titanic Belfast and has amazing views over the City.
The Titanic Belfast building is obviously only one of a number of big NI events this year and as part of the the Our Time, Our Place promotion, the Tourist Board have met up with travel expert Simon Calder to bring another update.
Basically….as we already know, there’s a lot going on, and that includes 8 world class events in the next 9 months. But Simon Calder reckons that Titanic Belfast will do for Northern Ireland what Bilbao’s Guggenheim did for Northern Spain and that we will finally be recognised as Europe’s next great destination (something we’ve known for years!). We agree that the Titanic factor is a big draw, but let’s not forget everything else that’s going on, and they are:
