I never thought I would ever do this, but last night (7th April), we got an invite to attend the Belfast Heat of Miss NI. This was the first of the NI heats for 2011 and Belfast Times was sitting there in the middle of it all in the VIP section, surrounded by the contestants, and watching some of Belfast’s glitterati.
Glamming it up for the night, we had the great pleasure of rubbing shoulders with the event organiser, Alison Campbell as she pulled off her best strike a pose look for the official photographers, and also with last years winner, the beautiful Miss Lori Moore.
Beside us, tucked away in the corner the contestants sat there looking nervous as they mentally prepared themselves for (some of them) their first ever catwalk appearance. Gosh, and they looked so young. It wasn’t until the host Peter Gilroy introduced them, that we realised some of these girls were still at school studying for A levels.
As soon as we arrived and sat beside the contestants, we chose who we thought would win, and hey, how good were we. In a beautiful pink outfit with long dark hair and legs up to her neck, Rebecca Maguire was the eventual winner. Oh gosh, do we have a future as talent scouts?
Congratulations to everyone involved for a great event and we’ll see you all at the finals hopefully.
