Clara Lyttle goes to Slieve Donard

20121218-214604.jpgOur beauty guest contributor Clara Lyttle is back, but unlike last time when she was rubbing shoulders with Amy Childs, this time she headed to the Slieve Donard for a Hen Party Spa break.

Here goes…

Hen parties are always guaranteed to be great, especially when there is a spa involved. Well this is exactly what I got up to at the weekend for my friend Catherine’s Hen Party.

We visited the Slieve Donard in Newcastle for a relaxing day of pampering and gossiping. I have been to many spas before, but wooo, this one has surpassed them all!

20121218-214627.jpgI have never been to the Slieve Donard hotel before and as we pulled up I was in shock. The building just brushes the shore in such an idyllic location. I was uber excited. The hotel itself is 4 star but the spa is 5 star.

We were taken on a guided tour (yes, that’s how big this spa is) and given our robes to lounge about all day while we all got our treatments. We had full use of the steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, swimming pool and the relaxation room. Needless to say we stayed all day, from 12pm to 6pm. We hit the Jacuzzi first and what a view! You are looking straight onto the crashing waves, you would swear you are on the beach. With the Mourne Mountains for a backdrop, this view has to be seen to be truly appreciated. Onto the steam room, then sauna and then the relaxation room. Fully equipped with adjustable beds, earphones to listen to various channels and magazines. I felt a bit like royalty and lapped it up all day.

20121218-214635.jpgI was called for my full body massage, which I will tell you was the best I have EVER had. The lady let me choose what oils I wanted to use and even the colour of light to set the mood in the room. An hour passed and we were ready for our Afternoon Tea overlooking the pool. Tincy tiny buns and crustless sarnies, so posh. What a way to end the day.

At £95 for the treatment and afternoon tea, it’s certainly not cheap, however you get what you pay for and is a well deserved treat. We also got little goodie bags filled with Espa treats and a rubber duckie. Fab!
