The Incredible Book Eating Boy

20121127-072431.jpgIt may be the start of winter and getting colder outside, but tickets sales at the MAC are heating up with phenomenal demand for Cahoots NI and the MAC’s co-production of Oliver Jeffers ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy’.

The fantastical family stage show has been adapted by Conor Mitchell and with live music including an on-stage choir, spectacular magic, captivating illusions and lots of other treats it promises to delight audiences of all ages.

If you were at the turning on of the Victoria Square Christmas lights, you may well have seen the short preview of the show, and it certainly looked magical, and fun, and an absolute treat of a night out.

Award winning Belfast-born children’s author and illustrator Oliver Jeffers brings the tale of Henry to life on the pages of his story book. Henry loves books so much that he eats them. The more he eats the cleverer he gets, until things start to go awry. Now for the first time, the team at Cahoots NI is bringing this story to life on the stage, in an exciting collaboration with the MAC, Belfast’s award-winning new arts venue.

Gillian Mitchell, Director of Programmes at the MAC, said:
“We are so excited about our new co-production, ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy’. This is simply the perfect Christmas show with all of the delight and razzmatazz you would hope for in a feel good, family show as well as live music, amazing magic and the huge set that’s currently been installed. We have matinees, family workshops, a free exhibition of Oliver Jeffers work, a captioned show and relaxed performances specially adapted for families and school groups who would benefit from a more relaxed theatre environment – so there really is something for everyone.”

The Incredible Book Eating Boy opens at the MAC today (Tuesday 27 November) and runs through until 1 January, with tickets starting at just £9.50 now available at .

The MAC is also running a Golden Bookmark competition in association with Easons and Library’s NI – when you buy or borrow a copy of The Incredible Book Eating Boy in any of the participating libraries or Easons you may find a Golden Bookmark and be in with a chance of winning fantastic prizes including tickets to the show.
