Xmas comedy with @BrassneckCo and @GrimesandMcKee at @GrandOperaHouse

From the producers of smash hit shows Man In The Moon, The Sweety Bottle and A Night With George, Brassneck Theatre Company team up with eggnog eejits Grimes & McKee at the Grand Opera House with their latest festive offering It’s A Wonderful Life… So It Is!

Starring Conor Grimes & Alan McKee alongside Katie Tumelty in a Christmas tale with a distinctly Belfast twist, started last night!!

“There’s nothing like a feel-good Christmas show that makes you laugh,” says Alan McKee. “We’re big fans of the key Christmas stories and this is our own spin – although we definitely had to give it a Belfast slant. Northern Ireland has Christmas spirit too, you know! Although in our case, when a bell rings it’s more likely to be last orders at the bar than an angel getting his wings.”

It’s A Wonderful Life… So It Is! has extra sparkle this year as not only does it feature local actress Katie Tumelty, best known for her roles in Brassneck’s The Sweety Bottle, Marie Jones’ Fly Me to the Moon and in Mixed Marriage at the Lyric Theatre, but it also marks the end of Grimes and McKee’s 15th year of working together.

“I can’t believe it’s Christmas, never mind that it’s been 15 years since we first started!” says Alan. “Time flies when you’re having fun. The first big project Conor and I worked on together was a Christmas show, actually. It’s great to know that we’re still doing what we love 15 years on.”

Katie plays Georgie, the hapless Christmas Club manager who has to enlist the help of trainee guardian angel, Clarty, to solve the Christmas Club’s financial crisis and save Christmas. She said, “It’s always fun doing Christmas shows but this one is definitely special! Grimes and McKee are such a big part of comedy and theatre in Northern Ireland; it’s a real pleasure to be working with them. The boys are always good for a giggle and I’m delighted to once again be working with Brassneck, who’ve produced some stellar shows over the last few years. The show’s hilarious and it’s really getting me into the Christmas spirit – I couldn’t ask for a better experience!”

It’s a Wonderful Life…So It Is! runs from the 12th to 29th December.
