Thousands of people have made it to the Andy Warhol exhibition during its opening weekend in The Mac Belfast. Are you one of them? What did you think of it?
I thought it was just amazing and I have been totally inspired by it, but I have heard others say it’s just a load of posters, or he’s just a good poster designer and not a real artist. I guess that depends on your definition of what an artist is.
Here’s the Oxford Dictionary definition:
Definition of artist
– a person who creates paintings or drawings as a profession or hobby.
– a person who practises or performs any of the creative arts, such as a sculptor, film-maker, actor, or dancer.
Andy Warhol was the rock star of artists and the distinct style of his art has inspired generations of designers and artists. You can’t deny his creativity and unique style and you can’t hide from the fact that he captured the attention of the world. Of course he was criticised for collaborating with others in both his movies and his art, but what he did create was a legendary legacy, and his creations, collaborated or not, tour the world attracting thousands of people to view his PopArt.
The exhibition is on until 28th April in The Mac and it’s free.
