VIP shopping, Theatre and Beauty

20130301-122522.jpgThree events in one night isn’t my typical Thursday night, but last night, that’s exactly what happened in my whirlwind tour of Bangor and Belfast.

It all started off with a quick trip to Bangor Menary’s for the VIP treat night especially for Reward Me customers. The Bangor store was merchandised to perfection, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the store look so good, clearly a lot of hard work had been put into it. Menary’s treated arriving guests to some delicious hot and cold nibbles and a little goodie bag. Throughout the store there were some great products in great looking departments, with some stunning GUESS and Fiorelli handbags, a great new kids fashion department, a new menswear department and a new gift shop called Raspberry Hill Gifts. The fashion show took place in the restaurant and was packed out with rows and rows of seats buzzing with excited customers. A great night for our local department store.

The 2006 play by Conor McPherson has been performed around the world, but has only just arrived in Belfast after a run in Scotland. Set in a dingy basement the story of 2 brothers reunited after one recently went blind, is a story of family, friendship, past and current demons. It’s a surprisingly funny play with a lot of laughs, mostly revolving around Richard, the older brother played by Ciaran McIntyre. Particular highlights of the production are the Wino’s in the lane, the missing car and the ongoing bath issue. The performances were superb as the cast played the drunken characters falling about the stage knocking over furniture and struggling to remember what happened the night before. Seafarer runs until 23rd March with tickets priced from £16 from the box office at www.lyrictheatre.co.uk

Finally I called into Café Vaudeville to catch the end of the first heat of the annual Miss Northern Ireland contest as Miss Belfast (Stacey Webb) and Miss Vaudeville (Emma Ward) were selected as the worthy winners. The next heat is at Spice in Antrim on 10th March and you can get the details of how to enter and of all other heats at www.missnorthernireland.co.uk

Following on from that…tonight I’m having a rest!!!
