This weekend on the streets of Belfast

20130301-102540.jpgThe weekend is almost finally here again, and it’s March!!! So it’s time to start planning how to spend those cherished two days off. To help you make up your mind we’ve compiled a list of fun things to do across in Belfast this weekend for the whole family to enjoy, from city sports, live music and street theatre. So take your pick and make sure you are Backin’ Belfast this weekend.

Friday 1st March

· Fun in the City Centre – 5-8pm, Blackstaff Square

The PS2 Team will be having lots of fun in the City Centre this weekend. They will be re-engaging with the urban environment and civic reclaim of public space. This weekend they will be hosting ping pong and table football competitions in Blackstaff Square, reflecting the diversity of our inner city environment and offering possibilities to experience, engage and transform our surroundings with fantasy and playfulness. Saturday 2nd March

· Live Music with Master and Dog – 12-2pm, Cornmarket

Master and Dog, formerly John, Shelly & the Creatures, formed in 2007. With hit songs such as ‘Canada’ and ‘Long may you reign’ they will be performing and entertaining the crowds at Cornmarket between 12-2pm. For more information visit:

· Street Theatre Show with Babcock and Bobbins – 12-3pm, Arthur Square

Stalwarts of the streets, these two uni-cycling jugglers know just where the collective funny bone is located. For the past fifteen years they have been touring Ireland delighting audiences as they go, with a blend of circus and comedy. For more information visit:

· Live music with Emily-Rose Conlon – 1.30-3.30pm, Donegal Arcade

Emily-Rose Conlon, ‘like an Irish Joni Mitchell’, is an amazing singer/songwriter from Belfast who despite having only a few years of writing under her belt, has already clocked up an impressive number of appearances at music festivals in Ireland and the UK. For more information visit:

Sunday 3rd March

· T13’s Urban Expose – 1-6pm, Arthur Square

T13 & RampRage Extreme sports Crews will descend upon Belfast City Centre, which will be transformed into an urban activity hub for an exciting afternoon full of BMX, Skate, Parkour/Free Running, Street Dance, Beat Boxing and Live DJs.
This ‘Urban Expose’ production is a unique opportunity for visitors to Belfast City Centre to catch some world-class demonstrations courtesy of the Mighty RampRage Extreme Sports Crew. If all this action wasn’t enough, the public are invited to get involved in the coolest lifestyles on the planet and try their hand at one of the many FREE workshop modules available covering sport, art, dance and music. The T13 Instructor Crew will be on hand for people of all ages and abilities to try their hand at Urban Sport, Art, Dance & Music workshop modules, all under the supervision of T13’s Industry Leading Professional Instructor Crew. · Mad Hatters Tea Party Street Theatre – 1-3pm, Royal Avenue/High Street

Mad Hatters Tea Party is an eccentric collaboration of circus skills, comedy and fairy tales in this highly interactive walkabout. Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Mad March Hare are inviting you to their very unbirthday tea. This trio draw you into their absurd world where it’s perfectly respectable to be eccentric and to juggle your best cupcakes and china. For more information visit:
