Theatre at the Opera House

As always there is a lot to see at the Opera House and this season has a few absolute gems.

This week King Lear is showing with the wonderful Derek Jacobi starring. Lear is arguably one of the greatest works in Western literature and finishes this Saturday. The Opera House have just released some standing only tickets due to the success of this masterpiece. So give them a call and quickly.

For the kids and for 2 days only (30-31 March) is the PreSchool legend, Peppa Pig and her little brother George. This award winning Childrens TV show comes to stage to wow the kids. With family packages from £50 and Peppa Pig meal deals. Its sure to be a huge hit with your kids.

In April it’s the turn of the legendary Blues Brothers to return to the Opera House. The show is adapted from the 70’s classic movie with Aretha Franklin and James Brown, with music to dance in the aisles to. Tickets on sale now for 26-30 April are priced from £5 and are a bargain!

2nd-7th May sees Footloose arrive and with 80’s classic tunes ‘Let’s hear it for the boy’ and of course ‘Footloose’ itself. What can I say, it’s an 80’s classic movie brought to the stage for one week. Be prepared to dance! Tickets from £5.

11th-14th May is the love story of Cleopatra performed by the Northern Ballet Theatre with music by the composer of Miss Saigon and Les Miserables. If you haven’t seen a ballet before, make this one your first. Tickets from £8.

June sees what Belfast Times considers the most exciting event in the Opera House season. It’s Avenue Q. Basically the muppets for adults. The sight of 2 puppets procreating on stage is just surreal. It’ll be here from 21-25 June and is a must see musical! Tickets from £10.
