If you are planning an event during 2012 in Belfast, especially this April, I guess the word Titanic always helps. I often wonder if we have enough people or cash in NI to fund going to all these events, luckily there are plenty of free events! As always, here at Belfast Times, we see the word Titanic and get all excited, actually genuinely excited! I guess it’s a proud thing, proud that we can build an amazing ship, proud that we are one of the best cities in the world (in my opinion), and proud that people actually want to come and see what all the fuss is about!
Given that we’re already excited about the opening of Titanic Belfast on the 31st March, imagine how we felt when we heard about the Titanic Lockdown festival, which takes place right across the road on the same day.
Titanic Lockdown is a brand new boutique festival under the iconic Harland and Wolff cranes. The all-day launch festival will take place on 31st March, whilst dates for a two day music festival have been confirmed as 1st and 2nd June. The launch festival will feature a day-long programme of activity culminating in a night time concert at T13 with cutting edge music performances from Roots Manuva, legendary DJ Gilles Peterson and London’s Soul Jazz Sound System. (T13 is home to Ireland’s leading Urban Sports Park & Shared Cultural Space)
To celebrate the launch of Titanic Lockdown, the daytime programme of activity between 12pm and 6.30pm is free. The evening concert is for over 18’s and will run from 7pm to late with tickets priced at £23 (+ Booking Fee). Tickets for the launch festival on the 31st March are available from www.titanic-lockdown.com and all Ticketmaster outlets.
