Are you a builder and trying to win the National lottery? Well it looks like you could be in luck!
Did you know that the luckiest profession to win big is the building trade with a monumental 331 millionaire builders created since the first National Lottery draw in November 1994. Amassing an extraordinary fortune of major prize wins worth over £1.26 billion.
What about the rest of us?
Drivers come in second place with 193 millionaires created and more than 1,500 major prizes totalling over £750m. Including Belfast’s very own Peter Lavery who won a whopping £10,248,233 in 1996.
Secretaries and admin staff have written up almost 2,000 major wins (1,947) worth over £840m and come in third place, followed by;
The manufacturing profession which clocks in with total winnings of over £615m and 176 millionaires, and then;
Retail or shop assistants who have bagged a whopping £500m with 146 millionaires created.
Northern Ireland has had its fair share of retail winners including Belfast’s Mary Hamilton, who worked for a furniture store before winning almost £13m playing Euromillions, Simon Savage, a farm shop owner from Newry who scooped almost £1.8m in the Lotto draw, Lauren McLarnon who worked in a Belfast sandwich shop and won £100k on a scratchcard, and Strabane store owner Sacha Dolan who won just over £76k on the Lotto.
So basically, I’m changing career and becoming a builder….anyone want to offer me a job? Although, I guess I’d need to do the lottery in the first place to be in with a chance.
Interesting facts though!
