Tinderbox Theatre Company has teamed up with award winning playwright Stacey Gregg and talented music star Katie Richardson (Katie and the Carnival) to bring a brand new show, Huzzies as part of the 50th Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queens. Huzzies is the brainchild of Belfast-born playwright Gregg, and a new production for Tinderbox, one of Northern Ireland’s leading theatre companies.
Huzzies tells the story of a band who crave distraction from the humdrum of everyday life. Fast-paced, direct and full of Stacey Gregg’s trademark wit, Huzzies follows the highs and lows of four fame hungry musicians as they hurl themselves at the Belfast music scene. A dynamic mix of live music and drama, Huzzies, funded by the Arts Council, will open at the MAC on 19th October for a three week run, as part of the 50th Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queens.
Local singer-song writer Katie Richardson is the musical director for the production and has written a set of new songs to be performed live by the band during the play. Four talented actor-musicians have been cast in the roles of the unlikely band members and will perform all of the vocals as well as an array of musical instruments live during the production.
The show taps into Belfast’s booming music scene and gives an insight into what it takes to survive and thrive under the spotlight.
Huzzies will be Upstairs at the MAC from 19 October – 3 November. Tickets start from just £9.50 and can be purchased online at themaclive.com by phone 028 9023 5053 or by calling in person to the MAC.
Also running in the Mac in early October is ‘I am my own wife’. Check out our review of it here.
