Tai Chi at the City Hall

Anyone for Tai Chi at the City Hall?

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese form exercise which promotes a robust physical health and sound mental outlook. Its practice is both relaxing and rewarding and is designed for young and older people and now Belfast Lord Mayor, Councillor Nichola Mallon is offering free holistic health classes including Tai Chi at City Hall from Monday, 18 August at 7.30am.

Get ready for 4 days of holistic health classes – thanks to the Mayor, who has organised four days of fitness as part of her drive to open up city hall.

On your way in to work why not take a moment, and pop in and wake up with tai chi, pilates, yoga or dance, with classes beginning at 7.30am. The free classes are also being offered at 12.30pm and at 5.15pm to entice shoppers, office workers, visitors and young people to join in.

We are hoping that they won’t be inside and that we can enjoy tai chi outdoors, where it is practiced across the world. Maybe the council should organise this every Monday morning as part of an ongoing commitment to promote holistic health in the City centre. It might even be an idea to install an outdoor gym in the grounds of the City Hall at the unused rear corner past the Titanic Memorial Gardens. What do you think?

The classes begin on Monday, 18 August and run until Thursday, 21 August and which will last between 45 minutes and an hour.

Will we see you there?
