I guess we’ve all resigned ourselves to what appears to be another non summer!
So all focus needs to turn to indoor activities, and where better than in a theatre, all snuggled up in comfy seats, with a show on stage at the Lyric Theatre or at the Grand Opera House.
Currently running at the Lyric with great reviews is Molly Wobbly’s Tit Factory. We haven’t had the chance to see it ourselves, have you? It runs until 29 July, so there’s still time, and at only £15 it’s a bit of a steal!
See it in Belfast first before it heads to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.
Over in the Opera House is HONK, a musical production of the Ugly Duckling with a cast of 10-18 year olds. It also runs until 29th July.
Next up in the Opera House is the Titanic Boys. This production is the world premiere of a new musical by Martin Lynch and JJ Gilmour. It runs from 8th August to 25th August, and we have already seen a sneak preview and it’s a goer! It’s also selling fast, so get your tickets sooner rather than later.
Later in the Summer, just as you’re about to get the kids back to school is The Gruffalo Live at the Lyric. It runs from 28th August to 2nd September. This show is £10 each or why not make the most of a family ticket for 4 people at £36.
In the Naughton Studio for 3 shows from 31st August to 1st September is Dogg’s Hamlet, Cahoot’s Macbeth.
This new exciting collaboration is a performance of abridged versions of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Macbeth. It is part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages project and we reckon that at only £8 it’s worth trying out.
There’s definitely plenty on if you want some indoor culture this Summer. So get your tickets sorted, and have a matinee or night out at the theatre.
