West Coast Cooler Belfast FASHIONWEEK is always one of the most stylish events in any Fashionista’s diary and it’s recent Spring/Summer 14 Press Launch certainly didn’t disappoint! Held in the über stylish surroundings of Kris Turnbull’s chic design studio, members of the press and stylista’s came together to celebrate FASHIONWEEK’s tenth year, and to be amongst the first to hear it’s exciting show schedule for March!
Despite the dreary January weather many attendee’s were sporting this Spring/Summer’s hottest trends! Model and FASHIONWEEK TV Presenter Katie Larmour rocked the metallic trend in a show stopping skater style dress in seasonal blush hues by Topshop Unique!
Vibrant blue was the dominant colour of the day, current Miss Northern Ireland Meagan Green embodied Spring in a fabulous blue dress finished off with a statement necklace and chic striped white blazer! While video journalist Aislinn Hagan, worked the trend in top to toe blue, mixing textures to create a fabulous ensemble!
Grianne Griffith is a girl who loves her black but is fully embracing this season’s love of colour rocking a fabulous blue shift dress completing the look with edgy buckled boots! Lisa McAuley showed how to do tribal prints the chic way in a beautiful fitted dress finished off with black opaques to keep out the January chill!
Bright and vibrant hues contrast with this season’s sizzling sorbets, and I was loving journalist Lauren Penman’s gorgeous pop of red from her skater dress! Working the embellishment trend she accessorised with a stunning vintage feel drop necklace and embellished clutch bag! Plus I loved the stud detailing on her jacket! looking good Lauren!
Sorbet colours from the palest pinks and nudes to blues were seen out in force, presenter Lucy Ellen was elegant in pink, with a great pair of spotted trousers and killer heels, while Emma Zacharopoulou was effortlessly chic in a beautifully cut pale nude blazer! One of my favourite looks of the day came from designer Juila Sokele who was the epitome of daytime glamour in a pale blue draped top and chic fur collar!
Florals are always strong for spring, but are given a welcome overhaul with graphic black background’s making the bright floral prints really pop! I loved milliner & jewellery designer Gráinne Maher’s little floral number finished off with one of her own felt trilby hats from her SS14 collection! (style tip: her trilby’s come in a myriad of colours and are proving to be massively popular amongst fashionista’s in the know so make sure to get your hands on one before they sell out!!)
Monochrome is the chic and stylish option and I loved model and actress Diona Doherty’s black and white ensemble, given a quirky nod with a fabulous houndstooth bow tie! Stylist Sara O’Neill was also in monochrome, accessorising with a seriously covetable embellished clutch and one of her own gorgeous silk scarves, printed with her iconic “Masque of the red Death” illustration!! Totally fabulous on all levels!
Last but no means least is blogger Ian Megrath showing the men how it’s done mixing textures and trends, not forgetting his style trademark a pair of beautifully crafted brogues to create a fantastic daytime look for the stylish man! While Lynsey Redpath, from one of my favourite jewellery stores, Argento (I too was wearing an “InnerPower”pendant from Argento) showed how even one statement piece of jewellery can totally transform an outfit with her striking “August Woods” bejewelled graphic edge necklace!
A very stylish press launch indeed, it was great to see how invited guests were interpreting the new trends and I for one am counting the days until FASHIONWEEK in March!!
