If you are a self- confessed ‘Gleek’ (if you are one then you’ll already know what a Gleek is!) or absolutely loved Sweet Charity at the MAC last year you cannot afford to miss Bruiser Theatre Company’s return to the MAC with The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
And you also can’t afford to miss our live tweeting on opening night on Tuesday 16th April. If you follow us on twitter, you may remember our live backstage tweet night at the Grand Opera House Panto. Well this time we will be in the audience tweeting as things happen! Now that’s exciting!
Spelling Bee is billed as a laugh out loud comedy about six young quirky, loveable mis-fits, for whom the Spelling Bee competition is their chance to finally shine. But through the course of the show they learn that winning isn’t everything and losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser.
The must-see musical sensation, directed by Lisa May, will apparently not only have audiences singing in their seats but participating along with the Spellers.
It’s a relatively new musical- released on Broadway in 2005 and has gone on to achieve critical acclaim including winning a Tony award.
This Bruiser production is the perfect way for The MAC to celebrate one year since opening.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee opens at the MAC on 16th April and runs through to 4th May daily (excluding Mondays) at various times. Tickets start at £12 and further information is available by logging onto themaclive.com.
