Showcasing the best of Belfast in New York

Just days after our G Spotter Grainne checked out The Dead Rabbit in New York, news comes in that the lads from Belfast have teamed up with OX restaurant for a pop up night of food and cocktails as they showcase the best of Belfast in New York City.

Pints at The Dead Rabbit

OX meets The Rabbit is a first-ever pop-up experience that brings together Belfast’s Michelin-starred OX restaurant and New York’s The Dead Rabbit, winner of ‘World’s Best Bar’ at 2015 Tales of the Cocktail, the industry’s highest accolade.

Featuring a five-course seasonal feast prepared by OX’s Chef Stephen Toman paired with cocktails created by The Dead Rabbit’s Beverage Director/Bar Manager Jillian Vose, tickets for the public event in NYC on September 27th and 28th are $200 and can be purchased in advance from the website.

Running on each of the two evenings from 7pm to 9pm, Ox meets The Rabbit is being held at The Dead Rabbit’s sister property, Pier A Harbor House, 22 Battery Place, in Lower Manhattan.

The Dead Rabbit’s founders, Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, are both from Belfast and earned global acclaim there for their work at The Merchant Hotel prior to moving to New York. This is the first time that they are pairing up with Chef Stephen Toman to showcase the best Belfast has to offer, from both sides of the Atlantic.

“Jack and I admire Chef Stevie’s imaginative, ingredient-driven kitchen in Belfast. When a pop-up was suggested, we jumped at the chance to collaborate,” says Muldoon. “Our cocktails have strong culinary elements and complex flavor profiles that make them great matches with his dishes on many levels.”

“New York is one of the world’s food capitals and it is an honour for us to be here to share what OX is about,” says Chef Stephen. “The Dead Rabbit team made its indelible mark upon arriving from Belfast and we are excited to see how their drinks interract with our food dishes that place as much emphasis on vegetables and they do on meat and fish.”

“It is truly an honour to host the pride of Belfast’s gastronomy and mixology at Pier A,” says Anthony Malone, Director of Operations, Pier A Harbor House. “This once-in-a-lifetime experience brings to New York a superb representation of the great heights that Irish cuisine has achieved, coupled with cocktails by our Belfast boys who have shaken up the entire drinks world.”

If you fancy a truly unique experience in one of the greatest city’s in the world and are feeling extravagant, get your tickets and hop on a flight to taste the best of Belfast in the big apple.
