The Festival of Light at Mount Stewart has been one of my favourite annual events for a few years now. How could I not love my favourite place to escape to when it’s lit up with a beautiful rainbow of colours each Autumn?
Rather than the usual daytime walk around the lake, the Festival of Light lake walk at night is relaxing, colourful, musical, twinkly and with added lights and also the refurbished interior of the house lit up this year it’s even more special.
There’s something comforting and really special about Mount Stewart, it really is my chill out place. Nothing beats sitting on the seat overlooking the lake at the top of a little hill at any time of the year.
My night at the Festival of Light was at the tail end of a rain storm and it was chilly and windy. At some points it was a bit spooky walking on my own in the dark with trees creaking, lights twinkling and occasional spits of rain, but that didn’t change the beauty of the walk, actually it probably enhanced it.
This year there are even more light sculptures throughout the gardens, more lights on the trees, and with the addition of the house lit up to literally show it off in a completely different light, the Festival of Light is a special night out.
Mount Stewart lights up every night until this Sunday 29th November. Get your tickets and go along for a relaxing beautifully lit park experience.
And of course there’s always the chance you’ll bump into friends when you’re there! Hello @silverbrogues
