Sandy Row Art

Yesterday, I popped over for the launch of a new artwork highlighting the local history of Sandy Row and the surrounding area.

At 30-feet long it’s a big and impressive art piece celebrating famous faces of the Sandy Row area, including the late Alex Higgins, singer Ruby Murray, boxer Samuel Hillery and ‘The Singing Butcher’ John Johnson. Designed and painted by Belfast artist Ed Reynolds, and assisted by William McKee Strong, the art runs along a wall in Stroud Street, connecting the Sandy Row to Great Victoria Street.

If you are in the area, why not take a wee detour into Stroud Street and learn a bit more about our local history and enjoy what is really a big outdoor art gallery….nothing ‘wee’ about it!
