Opening nights are always special and the curtain up and performance of Belfast’s latest restaurant went with a swing.
Despite the pouring rain on Tuesday evening and the American election, the place was jumping. Billed as being the best and healthiest takeaway chain in Ireland, they have come north to make that totally true! Open from noon until 11 p.m., half a dozen chefs working away in a spotless kitchen open to view and a more than pleasant counter staff to serve, whether you want to sit at one of the long tables or book a takeaway. You can wait for it to be prepared or order by phone and have it delivered although basically that means only city centre, Balmoral out to Castlereagh, Andersonstown to Ravenhill and Stranmillis area.
What I like about this place is the wide range of vegetarian dishes and the way the main course dishes are ‘calorie calculated’, Green Curry £10.95 (614-734 calories), Coconut Poached Irish Salmon £12.95 (410 calories) or Crispy Chilli Chicken £10.95 (479 calories). Grass fed Irish beef and Irish raised chicken and pork, vegetables locally grown in season and sauces made from scratch.
I was impressed and I will be back to find out much more about Camile Thai.
