Review: Busted at the Waterfront

Busted exploded back in to Belfast Waterfront on Tuesday for a night of hits, old and new as Charlie, Matt and James return to Belfast 8 months after their reunion tour. This time it’s more about the new album and a change of musical direction.

If you’ve listened to their Night Driver album, released late last year, you’ll know the group have embraced the 80’s, and a sizeable chunk of the setlist was synth driven. Kids with Computers kicked off the evening of new tracks mixed in with Busted classics.

Old fans couldn’t contain their excitement at times, some leaving their seats to go and party in the standing area. We had a nine year old new fan beside us who was having the time of his life as he enjoyed Night Driver.

Of course as with every act, the old hits bring back the memories and the best reaction, as Busted belted out Year 3000, What I Go To School For and Crashed the Wedding.

It was a great gig and the lads sounded fantastic.

So I’m off to listen to that great new album and sing along (in my head of course) to Night Driver!

Let’s not forget support act Natives who did a fantastic job warming up the audience with infectious energy and banter.
