Refound launch 50 Shades of Grey

20130307-083129.jpgI haven’t been in to the ReFound shop in Wellington Place, Belfast for a while, but the latest news coming in from them is their Fifty Shades of Grey event happening later this month.

Eight local artists have created an inspiring new collection of restyled salvaged furniture for Refound, using shades of grey as the overall colour pallet.

Stuart Calvin, Jim Melin, Cassie Binkley, Nuala Maguire, Mandie Lowry, Sarah Crooks, Anastasia Andrejevaan and Ray McKinstry have all contributed an array of recycled and found furniture pieces for the showcase event.

Founder Jill O’Neill said: “We have been working with a great group of talented local artists, designers and makers to push boundaries in the art of reclaimed furniture. This is where the lines between art and furniture are creatively blurred and it represents a major move towards a more sophisticated range of up-styling, re-purposing and re-founding.”

There promises to be a great variety of artistic and novel ideas on display: from Antique washstands morphing into computer tables; to a stylish chevron design makeover on a 70’s folding dining table.

20130307-083116.jpgLaunch night for the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ showcase takes place on Thursday 21 March from 7pm to 9pm at the ReFound Building, 7 Wellington Place, Belfast. The showcase runs until April 27.
