It’s fair to say that music tastes are very personal and we all like different songs and different sounds. So thank goodness for Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox who are on a whistlestop world tour armed with a smorgasbord of songs from a broad range of music genres.
Hitting the stage of Belfast’s Waterfront earlier this week, this amazing mix of musicians, singers and dancers high kicked, belted out and waved their jazz hands through modern songs with a classic twist. With everything from “Womaniser” to “Stacey’s Mom” and even ‘Cry Me a River” they had us bopping in our seats and in the aisles for a good two hours.
As if that wasn’t enough, the cast are actually really fun! Host Ariana Savalas is an all-round performer who not only sings but also entertains the crowd with hilarious one liners and pithy but lighthearted putdowns.
All the performers are honestly amazing – they have their own sound, style and they bring something unique to the stage. However stand out performances for me was Casey Abrams singing Sam Smith’s “Not the Only One” – watch him here…
Although it was a one night only affair for Belfast, PMJ will be in Dublin this week and of course you can enjoy their music online. Having been in Belfast only 12 months ago they must love our city, and with the happy faces leaving the theatre it looks like the feeling is definitely mutual!
