The start of 2014 is a time for Giant Experiences at the Giant’s Causeway. The Giant Experience starts when you arrive, with a free hot chocolate for every ticket holder along with lots of other activities. It’s a great launch to 2014 for the visitor attraction and we love that they are promoting it more during the winter months, the months when the causeway looks its best. Nothing beats a ferocious sea scene to compliment the dramatic Causeway.
We headed up to the Causeway right in the middle of one of those frequent winter storms we are having this year, and checked into the Causeway Hotel before braving a very stormy Causeway.
After the drama of a UNESCO heritage site at the Causeway, we headed back up to the hotel and relaxed in the cosy bar before dinner in the restaurant.
As first timers to the Causeway Hotel, we were more than pleasantly surprised by everything. From arrival to departure, everything was perfect. The evening meal was great value, buy your main course and get a starter and dessert free! Where would you ever get that! And as it was Burns Night weekend, of course dinner had to be Haggis, Neeps and Tatties with a twist, it was chicken stuffed with Haggis.
Our room was huge with superb views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with the North Coast stretching out in the distance, and of course with the wild stormy waves, wind and rain.
What a location, what a site, what a Giant Experience!
If you think the Causeway is somewhere you take your visiting guests and tourists to during the Summer months, I would highly recommend a change of mind and head there when it’s Winter.
You’ll see it like never before, and you’ll experience a hotel all cosy and warm and delightful.
Definitely one for the to do list!
