Legendary Belfast restaurateur Nick Price, former proprietor of Nick’s Warehouse, and arguably one of Northern Ireland’s finest chefs has joined forces with The Clandeboye Lodge Hotel to launch a new restaurant called Coq & Bull.
The thriving North Down hotel, located at the edge of the Clandeboye Estate, has invested £500,000 in an extensive refurbishment of the entire ground floor including the reception, lounges and bar area – with the stunning new Coq & Bull Brasserie at its heart. Nick Price, in his first commercial venture since Nick’s Warehouse, has returned to the limelight consulting on the venue’s signature menu and food presentation with Clandeboye Lodge Head Chef Ian Lyttle and his team.
The refurbishment and rebranding have been delivered in partnership between Belfast Agency Navigator Blue and John-Henry Boyle of Dublin based, 21 Spaces.
The Coq & Bull restaurant is named after the celebrated works of famous witty playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan, former owner of Drury Lane Theatre in London, who had family ties to the local area – the adjacent Helen’s Tower is named after his grand-daughter. Sheridan’s wit and yarns were legendary but the name also represents the hotel’s vision of good, honest food – without pretence.
Nick Price commented: “The team at the Clandeboye Lodge really care about food and local produce – their passion for the project really inspired me. When they showed me their plans for the restaurant I felt it was something I really wanted to be part of. I’m very much looking forward to working with the team at Coq & Bull to create some great dishes.”
Pim Dalm, Managing Director of the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel comments: “We are very excited about 2014 and the launch of our new restaurant – especially having Nick on board. We believe in supporting local businesses and utilising award-winning local produce. Nick insists on the highest standards, an ethos completely in tune with our business philosophy.”
