James, Simon and the BSPA masterclass

This week we witnessed a dream come true for James Huish, as he performed on stage with Simon Bowman.

Our night started by finally making use of our Belfast Restaurant Vouchers in the Mac restaurant. Canteen at the Mac never fails to impress! Ever! It’s the perfect pre theatre location with a charming team, a manager who doesn’t miss a thing, and the tastiest well presented food.

We were then treated to a night of musical theatre in The Mac with James, Simon and the Belfast School of Performing Arts (BSPA). James can normally be heard performing swing classics, and he didn’t disappoint with a few swing numbers. But on this night he embraced musical theatre, treated us to performances from his BSPA and introduced the audience to Simon Bowman.

Best known for his role as Chris in the original production of Miss Saigon in London’s West End, Simon is spending 5 days in Belfast and taking a very special masterclass on Miss Saigon which is to be performed by the children of the BSPA.

I am a big musical theatre fan and listening to James, Simon and BSPA was beautiful and often touching, especially during their Les Miserables performances. Just wow!

The young people of BSPA are currently working on a production of Miss Saigon due to take place in The Mac later this month, so again we are expecting great things.

But first the young people will get to take part in a special 2 day Miss Saigon open master-class this weekend with Simon. The master-class is also open to anyone else aged 12+ who has a desire to learn musical Theatre from the best!

The master-class takes place a Belfast School of Performing Arts Head Quarters, Heron Road, Belfast.
