It’s a bit fishy at St George’s

20130227-103708.jpgSt George’s Market has long had a reputation for being one of the finest sources of fresh fish in the British Isles.

Now, this weekend, the Market’s resident expert chef will be sharing some very special recipes with shoppers and visitors.

Former ‘Masterchef’ finalist Chris Souto – who operates the ‘El Toro’ grill and more recently, along with his business partner, and star of ‘The Hairy Bikers’, Robert McColm, took over the new inhouse ‘Lazy Goose’ franchise – will be demonstrating how to cook three different fish dishes, as part of the Market’s continuing support for the ongoing Backin’ Belfast campaign.

Chris will be showing how to make a delicious seafood chowder, a mouthwatering mackerel salad and a superb sea bass with samphire. He also will be tantalising tastebuds with a speciality tarragon panna cotta dessert.

Over the course of the weekend, Chris also will be joined by chefs from some of Belfast’s top bars and restaurants – including Gerard McFarland from Shu, Michael O’Connor from The Barking Dog and Rick Orr from the Northern Whig – who will each cook one of their signature dishes ‘live’ in the Market.

These special demonstrations will take place between 12 noon and 1.30pm on Saturday (March 2nd) and between 12 noon and 2.15pm on Sunday (March 3rd).

St George’s Market is open from
6am – 2pm on Fridays,
9am – 3pm on Saturdays, and from
10am – 4pm on Sundays.
