ICONS of Tech, Music and Screen

Global icons from the worlds of technology, music and screen are set for Belfast this month for a major new festival.

ICONS Festival ‐ expected to draw 20,000 visitors over four days in Titanic Quarter ‐ features talks, workshops and performances involving icons in the worlds of tech, music and screen.

Speakers announced for the festival include:

Hip‐hop legend Chuck D, a cultural icon who helped change the face of rap music with the socially conscious and politically charged Public Enemy.

Top Hollywood producer Bill Daly, a former Senior Vice President of Warner Bros, who oversaw film franchises such as Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes.

Girls Aloud chart-topper Nicola Roberts, Youtube singing sensation Emma Horan and Phil Taggart from BBC Radio 1 are also confirmed for the festival.

Festival co‐founder Jim Fitzpatrick said: “ICONS is a unique and exciting new concept. We want to build ambition and inspire action from the many thousands who will attend from across the region and far beyond.”

Friday events:

At the heart of the event on Friday 25th September is a one‐day international conference and industry expo featuring global speakers across three stages housed in the new 6,000 sq metre Titanic Exhibition Centre and Titanic Belfast.

Pitch competition @ ICONS Festival

From Italy to Ireland, and from the US to the Ukraine, up to 100 of the most innovative and forward-thinking startup companies that the tech scene has to offer will be on display as part of the ICONS Festival.

Finalists are set to pitch live at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast on Friday September 25, with the winner getting the chance to go forward for final interview to join the prestigious 500 Startups accelerator programme based in Mountain View HQ, Silicon Valley. 

The judging panel, which includes 500 Startups associate partner Marvin Liao, will also be filled by leading VCs, investors and mentors. 
Attending ICONS Festival will be the very best of startups from a range of areas which include;

Robotics – such as US startup Admetsys who are revolutionising the healthcare sector by producing high-tech robotics to real-time measure, model and treat patients; 

Fintech – representing the fintech industry all the way from France, are MoneyTis who aim to provide the fastest way to transfer money abroad;

Wearables – MedExo Robotics from the UK have created an exoskeleton which is set to transform the healthcare industry;

SaaS – Glistrr is the complete guest-listing solution for venues and event promoters, giving comprehensive knowledge on the influence level of each customer.

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September will see t​he world’s first Careers Carnival ‐ the biggest careers showcase for the tech and creative sectors ever held in Northern Ireland with more than 100 companies and organisations represented.

With live music performances and film screenings, interactive technology and a bespoke food village, the event will be a fun and rewarding experience for all. ICONS CEO, Aaron Taylor added: “ICONS is open to everyone. From the free Skills Day for school students, to the Careers Carnival for all generations, our conference and exclusive music gig has a range of ticket options which mean it’s accessible to everyone from the bootstrapping startup to the global CEO.”

Delegates will also enjoy an exclusive after-conference live music gig featuring a showcase of established and up and coming UK and Irish talent.
