Doesn’t time fly? We are finding it hard to believe it’s been 7 years since the Malmaison Hotel arrived in Belfast. When it opened it was probably the trendiest hotel in the city and it was most certainly the first to open anywhere near the Cathedral Quarter. Over the years it has been a celebrity haunt with a number of stars staying over, including Kylie Minogue, so as its seventh birthday approached it was time to celebrate.
And this week to celebrate its birthday the Hotel has been running a birthday promotion with various offers taking place if you get there before 7pm.
Over the weekend the offers are:
Frivolous Friday with a bucket of beers or a bottle of house wine for £10.
Cocktail Saturday is 2 for the price of 1 between 12-7pm
Sunday is Brunch Fizz with a free Bucks Fizz or Bloody Mary when you have Sunday brunch
As well as the birthday celebrations, the Mal has had a bit of a birthday facelift.
The very popular Brasserie has been given a big overhaul with a new light and bright look with creams, light woods, complimented with dark striped furniture. Its gone a bit nautical with oyster buckets and life saving rings. As for the food, well it’s as divine as ever with locally inspired cooking. The table at the back, in front of the fire, is almost a private dining experience, and definitely worth the try. The Brasserie is definitely a memorable dining experience.
The bar continues with its moody opulent look, perfect for after dark socialising. The daring black and red colour theme is everywhere, with velvet bar stools and oversized sofas. But the best part of the bar is the divine selection of cocktails, created by a superb team. The Mal also do some seriously good wines, champagnes and a great selection of beers and spirits, all served with that Malmaison passion and flare.
The bedrooms have also been given a makeover, but if you want a treat, the 2 very special rock ‘n’ roll suites on the top floor are well worth a sleepover. You’ll definitely feel like you are a rock star, with an 8 foot bed and a bathroom of epic proportions. Unfortunately you won’t be able to do the ultimate rock star act of throwing the TV out the window, unless you can get it out through the skylight!
The hotel is in a fabulous old building and it makes excellent use of a lot of original features and mixing them with a very modern design.
Definitely a must do hotel in Belfast.
Happy birthday Mal!
