Gordons Chemists review: David Beckham’s Essence

Ok, so it’s not the actual essence of David Beckham, but it is his fragrance called Essence. Just thought I’d clear that up first of all, although to be fair, the man probably does smell as good as this fragrance.

Essence first went on sale in August 2012 and it looks like it’s here to stay and rightly so, it smells great and has a classic clean fresh masculine feel about it.

The Beckham-fragrances.com website describes Essence as ‘zesty grapefruit, luminous violet leaves and sparkling lavender open the fragrance. An addictive heart of juicy pineapple, crisp apple and fresh cardamom follows. The fragrance finishes with sensual tonka bean, warm cashmeran and masculine patchouli’. If I’m honest I don’t know what half of that even means, all I know is that I really like it, and people have commented on how good I smell! Thanks David!

The cute and slightly curved bottle is a bit like a bicycle tyre tread with similar detailing on the cap and it fits perfectly in the hand. The box is a plain and simple design with the common Beckham branding of his name with the missing circle.

The hair and body wash is a rich and luxurious shower treat giving you the ‘Essence’ all over experience, and of course you finish that off with a spritz or two of the Eau de Toilette.

It’s all small bottle which is perfect to carry in the man-bag for a refreshing spritz of this very simply stylish fragrance. Actually that just sounds like it suits David’s lifestyle and brand perfectly!

Enjoy this behind the scenes footage of the making of the Essence ad:

Gordons stock The Essence in both sizes of Eau de toilette, 30ml and 50ml, and also Essence hair and body wash. Check out the full Gordons Chemists Beckham collection.
