Glamoramas in the city.

A weekend in Belfast is always going to be a great one, and this one was no different.
We checked into the Premier Inn in the Cathedral Quarter and what a welcome. It was a typical Belfast welcome, with our wee room, our wee key card, our wee bill and our wee breakfast. Yes we got the typical wee Belfast welcome, it’s wasn’t false or scripted in any shape or form, just genuine and very welcoming from the receptionist. What a great wee cheap hotel where everything is Premier but the price. The hotel is in a fantastic location right in the middle of all the action. Definitely guaranteed, especially with the room rate and the £7.99 all you can eat full breakfast.
Next stop was drinks and lunch in the city’s rock star Malmaison Hotel. We love the Mal, and from previous stays we would recommend staying in one of the penthouse suites. The bar staff recommended the most amazing bottle of wine to give our weekend a kick start and it lived up to the hype. Love Love Love the Mal.
Fast forward to later in the afternoon after a mini shopping spree, and we are back in the Premier Inn bar indulging in cocktails at the window watching the world go by on the 4 Corners. Needless to say by the time we left to go to No27 Talbot Street for dinner, well to be fair, we staggered there!
No27 was a surprise, we expected a much more formal setting, but it was almost canteen like, and I mean that in a good way. It was relaxed and casual, the service and staff were perfect, and the food was just delicious and great value. There was a slight mix up in one main course, but the waitress was really helpful and she offered an unexpected free dessert, a delicious rhubarb and mascarpone sundae. Yum. And we didn’t even complain in the first place!
Finally it was on to the over priced Merchant Hotel, I mean really, £10 for an average tasting cocktail and then a service charge for a waiter to serve us, this is Belfast, not New York. Definitely a case of paying for your surroundings! But hey, what surroundings, the hotel is stunning, actually, no, it is spectacular and a must see when staying over in Belfast and almost worth the £10 cocktail just to experience the place. We are booked to stay over in the hotel later this year, so I am looking forward to the experience.
At the end of the night, us 4 glamoramas headed back to the Premier Inn with it’s wonderful, helpful staff both in the bar and hotel. Finishing off the night like the 4 Sex in the City girls drinking cosmos. Bliss!
Oh and I almost forgot, on Sunday morning, we went for a dip in the Lagan…no not a skinny dip, but in the Belfast duck, better known as the Splash tour bus. Loved it, and once again the service was superb. Has Belfast really upped it’s game in the service industry? Because I am impressed and proud of what is fast becoming one of my favourite cities in the world.
