It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas and this year I have been getting my shopping in early so I can enjoy some festive spirit. If you are anything like me when you are buying something for a loved one you have to put something in the basket for yourself! Point in case when I had a meeting in Bangor last week, I decided to pop into Menarys on Main Street to see if it had some last-minute stocking fillers I missed out on.
Big mistake, well for my purse anyway as I picked up several must-haves to keep me and my home looking fab-u-lous over the festive holidays. Like most departments stores, Menarys has everything you expect to see- fashion, beauty and a home department all under one roof. Yet on closer inspection, I have decided that Menarys is in fact a hidden gem with some unique finds. Here are my top picks:
Juliet Diamante Hat £14.99, Powder Raspberry Gloves £20. Navy Sparkle Box Bag £25. Being a magpie at heart, these sparkly little numbers were destined to jump off the shelves and into my basket. I’ve already premiered them on a cold night in Mount Stewart and a swish dinner last night. They looked great and can definitely add festive bling to any outfit.
Having well-known brands such as Gerry Weber, Gelco, Steilmann, Guess, Bedeck and Stellar, while its sister company Tempest houses high street brands such as Top Shop, Miss Selfridge, Jack & Jones and Warehouse- Menarys really has something for everyone. What does make it different is the service and personal touch. Ok ok, maybe you don’t see this as a necessity, but it has become so rare, that when you get good service it kind of takes you by surprise.
The lovely Lauren on the Benefit counter recommend this tin of goodies to me. She told me it is a best seller and one of the must-have Christmas gifts, as well as advice on how and where to use them. Two full size products – Hoola bronzer & They’re Real mascara, alongside Porefessional balm and Hoola lipgloss is about all you’re gonna need for a night on the tiles. This treat came in at £39.50 and valued at £57.64 so there is a massive saving.
And finally, I couldn’t forget my wee housey, especially as it’s my first Christmas in it – so picked up some treats to make it feel special too. I can never say no to a Christmas candle and the Wax Lyrical Cranberry & Vanilla Luxury Candle £9.99 smells delicious and is probably big enough to last me to next Christmas.
The Scented Home Christmas Time Pomander is £10 and a treat for the senses. It can be hung on your Christmas tree or door handle. A cute little decoration for the mantlepiece is the Heaven Sends Christmas House with (fake) candle, looks the part and is a bargain at £10.
I know it seems like I splurged, but I definitely got some quality items that will see me through Christmas and beyond and to be fair at very reasonable prices. If you haven’t tried Menarys before, it is definitely worth a visit. You can find out more info about stores etc… at www.menarys.com, but make yourself feel warm and fuzzy by chatting to the staff in the stores – just give yourself plenty of time and bring lots of sturdy carrier bags!
