I’m the first to admit that I hate this time of year. The dark nights, an obsession with carbs and of course my face being one of the casualties of the cold and windy weather. So rather than hibernating until summer, I have been hunting out beauty products to fix my dry skin in the hope that it will make me feel better from the outside in.
My first stop was SKINICIAN as I have always found these products give my face a lovely pampering. Beady-eyed G Spotters will know that I have covered this brand before and although I do love using them, I try to give my skin a break in the summer so jump between them and La Roche Posay.
As we are nearly into winter, I knew I needed to pull out the big guns, so tried the SKINICIAN Pro-Radiance Enzyme Peel (approx. £25). This anti-ageing product smells lovely thanks to the pineapple, passion fruit and grape blend in the ingredients.
It aids the removal of dead skin cells while encouraging the skins natural cell renewal, all of which will promote a younger appearance. Music to my ears, and not simply because another birthday month has been and gone.
The SKINICIAN peel is very tingly on the skin, making me feel like it definitely is doing something to my face. I left it on for about 10 minutes and then waited for the magic to happen. The instructions said the peel will enhance cell renewal and it will result in a smoother appearance. My skin looked clear, shiny and was as smooth as a baby’s bum – tick tick, tick! Worried that it was beginners luck, I tried the peel another few times and thankfully every time it has made my skin look and feel better. A result in my book.
Feeling particularly generous I also treated myself to the SKINICIAN Advanced Calming Serum (approx £38 for 50ml). It works best if you are prone to skin irritation or red blotches and feels like a cozy blanket on the face, protecting it from those evil weather conditions.
Now that’s the base sorted, the hat trick product to finish off the beautification process is ZO Skin Health Sunscreen & Primer by ZEIN OBAGI. This is one to put on after your moisturiser and it has transformed my makeup regime. It is smooth, luxurious and seems to keep my makeup in tact all day long.
It’s not cheap at around £50 for 30ml, but you only need about 2 pumps under your foundation and it is also acts as a sunscreen-for the last few rays of autumnal sunshine shining through.
The bad news is that between the three products I’m out a fortune, but the good news is present giving season is nearly upon us. Ok I know that just like a dog, beauty is for life and not just for Christmas, but take it from me, it’s definitely a good place to start!
