G Spots! Advice for Local Business Owners

Many of you lovely G Spots! readers mightn’t actually know that I’ve been running my own PR company for nearly five years. Time flies when you’re having fun, but like most businesses I’ve had my ups and downs. Thankfully I’ve a wide support network, but a little bit of additional business advice is always useful.

I recently came across a local podcast that has provided just that, and is quickly becoming my weekly business mentor on the commute to work. The Profit Margin, hosted by Jim Fitzpatrick and Naomi McMullan is available on iTunes and the Q Network and as both presenters are experienced business journalists they know how to turn the most mundane stories in radio gold.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not style over substance and I have now become versed in everything from crypto currencies, to the local angel investor network, to job trends of the future and I’m sure that was only in one episode! What makes it particularly appealing is the fact that the stories focus specifically on local entrepreneurs and give great examples and advice on what worked for them and what didn’t work. It’s less focused on business news, which allows for more in-depth discussion and really gives a business owner the chance to learn something valuable.

You might be thinking that this isn’t my normal style for G Spots! but if you’re a regular reader, you’ll know I’m a strong supporter of local entrepreneurs and believe that in this big bad world we all need to stick together!

So just in case you missed them over the last year, here are a few of my favourite entrepreneur success stories I’ve been lucky enough to cover. Enjoy!
