G Spots! A Purrrfect Show

IMG_6374Back in the day before there was Fame Academy or the X Factor young’uns (myself included) took part in speech & drama classes. We read poetry, learnt voice projection, took part in events and enjoyed the social side of it. Granted, it was very basic compared to today’s standards and when I saw some unbelievable talent perform at the SSE Arena earlier, I realised how tame my Saturday classes in Trench House actually were!

Children and teenagers from across Northern Ireland gave a sneak peak of a unique youth production of the iconic West End musical, CATS. Taking place in the summer, Perform Boot Camp has teamed up with SSE Airtricity to present the world-renowned, record-breaking show, having been granted special permission by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group. Its the first youth production of this scale signed off by Lloyd Webber, they would normally be performed in front of 400 people max and this troop will get to perform in front of an audience of more than 2,000.

FullSizeRenderThe SSE Arena will be in its new theatre-style format, which will turn it into an intimate venue for the audience. The cast was chosen following extensive auditions and comprises over 150 young people aged between eight and 18.

The unique youth production is the brainchild of show director Peter Corry, who has a wealth of experience performing on the West End and throughout the world. He said, “Perform Boot Camp is all about offering young people the opportunity to enhance their performance skills while having an enjoyable and memorable experience at the same time – and what could be more memorable than being part of this world-famous musical in this incredible venue!”

IMG_6376The youth production is one of the most ambitious versions of this critically-acclaimed show to ever be staged. The show will take place at The SSE Arena, Belfast on Saturday 6 August, with both a matinee and evening performance scheduled. If the taster was anything to go by I’d say the tickets will be as popular as catnip to the real furry felines!

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 17th May at 9am from The SSE Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Phone: The SSE Arena Box Office 028 9073 9074 | Ticketmaster 0844 277 4455. Online: www.ticketmaster.ie
