You all know I love featuring local talent and what better talent than our very own Belfast Times founder, Jeff Meredith! Aside from here, many of you will know him from his regular weekend stall at St George’s Market, called – you guessed it, Belfast Times, but did you also know he is a very talented designer who is regularly creating some cult pieces? Well, this month you can check out this wonderful designs as he celebrates his latest exhibition on show in Belfast gift shop, The Wicker Man.
Showcasing his knowledge of the local dialect, iconic locations and facts about Belfast, which he incorporates on ordinary objects in a Pop Art style, for this month only his designs will be on show and available to buy at this city centre retail outlet.
Everything from bright and rather good quality coasters, cards, mounted prints and unframed prints are in the collection and with catchy slogans such as ‘Bout Ye, Ye Girl Ye, Away On, which prove to be a real hit with tourists and locals as are the must-have designs of St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast beer spots, GOT inspired Dark Hedges and the H&W cranes.
The Wicker Man is located in Belfast’s High Street and its team are delighted to see Jeff’s work again in its gallery – as it’s where it all started for him a few years ago when he had his first exhibition.
I’m not too sure where Jeff gets his energy from as he is always out and about and a real advocate for our city. He’s an inspiration for me and a real creative chap, as you can see from his designs. I do like getting my Ho Ho Ho Christmas coaster and the Get Well Soon Ya Melter card puts a smile on my face when I’m sick!
Jeff’s Pop Art collection ranges from £2 for cards to £20 for A4 unframed prints and will be on show in The Wicker Man until the end of May. You can get in touch with him on @Madein69 and of course at St George’s Market most weekends – let him know what you think! Love his stuff? Give him a ‘Keep ‘er Lit’! Not sure if they’re for you? Give him a ‘Your Bum’s a Plum’!
