Finding my Spring/Summer style at Bloomfield Shopping Centre
The sun is out, our traditional good weather week in May has arrived, and just as I’m getting out last year’s Summer fashion, Bloomfields in Bangor invited me along for a shopping spree to find my fashion picks for guys for Spring Summer 17.
Last week I popped along for a preview and created this video. And I’ve been tweeting all week using the hashtag #bloomfieldshopping in case you missed it.
So what did this particular 40 something guy pick from the 4 main men’s clothing stores in Bloomfield Shopping Centre?
Marks and Spencer Blue Harbour summer regatta jacket. Pale grey with blue and white detailing (£59). Its classic Harrington style is perfect for summer evening strolls.
The Bird of Paradise design is probably the top trend for men this summer. It’s everywhere! This short sleeve shirt from NEXT (£22) is my favourite of all the style picks because it’s a fantastic fit, it’s feels luxurious and of course, it’s on trend.
I’ve styled it with simple NEXT white trainers (£35) and a pair of M&S belted shorts (£29.50) rolled up at the hem of course!
Still in NEXT I had to have this Bird print t-shirt (£20). It’s the perfect match for the M&S jacket and the birds made me think of the starlings’ murmuration over Central Station every evening.
The white trainers and shorts are styled with an H&M Basics hoodie (£17.99) and a white River Island t-shirt (£15). No summer look would be complete without some wrist accessories, H&M (£3.99).
For those not so warm summer evenings, I selected a pair of M&S slim fit trousers (£35). They work really well with the hoodie and white T as they are more of a jean fit; which also means they style well with the other t-shirts and shirts.
It’s essentially my summer capsule wardrobe of simple classic styles mixed with some key SS17 trends.
As with every season, you need a belt (River Island £18) and you have to smell good with some M&S body wash and eau de toilette. NEXT have a great tropical fragrance which I forgot to go back for!
I have to admit the men’s selection in Bloomfields isn’t huge, but it’s good enough to get your key pieces and create a great summer look. I did have a problem with sizes not out on the floor (it was Saturday evening) but then I am bigger than the average and sizing is a lifelong issue I’m well used to.
Thanks to Bloomfields for inviting me down to pick my key pieces and for the vouchers! I did of course go over budget, but sure, these things happen, always!
