Father’s Day gift ideas

Is he or isn’t he the hardest person to buy for? Every Father’s Day, Birthday and Christmas, if you’re anything like me, you’ll end up scratching your head the day before wondering what on earth to get yer da!

Above everything I mention here, I know one thing that my dad would want. That would be to spend time with his kids and to know that we are happy, that’s all he wants and all that he’s ever wanted. It’s the greatest gift of all.

In the meantime, here are a few ideas:

Tickets to an event at Bangor’s Open House Festival. There’s a whole booklet of events happening in August. But maybe tickets to one of their Whiskey Galore events would go down well. On a Monday night in August your dad will get to enjoy a night of whiskey tasting !

£20, 7.30 – 9PM

It wouldn’t be right to talk about Father’s Day without mentioning our own range of products available at St George’s Market. With coasters and mugs including a new football design and a pint design with the names of all the pubs your dad will probably have visited at some point in time. But what dad doesn’t love football, so our new GAWA design will surely keep his footballer dream alive. And it matches that Tennents pint glass!!

My dad loves chocolate, it’s no secret that he’ll happily munch away on a bar or two. So in steps M&S with bags of treats, Single Malt Whiskey Truffles, Sea Salt Caramels, Father’s Day cakes and much more. If you need something to add on to your gift just to satisfy his secret (or not) sweet tooth, your local M&S store will have something he’ll love.

I even spotted this half price hamper in their Bangor store. For only £10 you could fill it up with treats to hand over with those Open House Festival tickets.

Marks and Spencer also have a special Father’s Day promotion of 30% off toiletries & fragrances, and I’ve spotted a great new product in the shape of Scaramouche & Fandango. I’ve been using this range for the last few months and it smells fresh. I love their sports wash, body wash, hydrator and hair cream. It’s currently only available online and is being rolled out to stores over the summer. But, that 30% off for Father’s Day gets you a great discount on a great new brand. www.marksandspencer.com

More grooming products I use all the time, and if I was a dad I’d love to get them on Father’s Day, is our own local hairdressing expert Jason Shankey. The JS Formation Cream is new to the collection and what a great way to style your hair! Perfect for those who want a softer hold and if like me your hair is so flyaway and can get frizzy, the Formation Cream fixes that problem perfectly!

And if you want your dad to have great skin, get him some JS Miracle Oil. I think it does perform miracles, because it does everything. I’ve used it for aftersun and pre bedtime moisturising and I’m sure it’s uses will continue to be discovered.

Jason Shankey’s hair, shave and skincare range is available in 250 Sally stores across the UK and in JS Salons.

If your dad has outgrown his years of clubbing at LUSH and still enjoys a bit of Radio 1 now and again but occasionally indulges in some Classic FM, then this event is for him. The Ulster Orchestra have teamed up with LUSH to bring you 20 years of dance classics at the SSE Arena. I for sure think this is going to be a lush night out in Belfast!

Here’s hoping you get something sorted for Father’s Day! If not, just give him a hug and take him out for a coffee/tea/drink!
