National Trust is proud to announce the return of Gig in the Garden, a locally acclaimed one day boutique festival in the beautiful setting of Terrace Hill Garden, Minnowburn overlooking the River Lagan on the outskirts of Belfast.
On 27th July from 12 noon, building on the success of last year’s event, the gig will again showcase some of Northern Ireland’s best musical talent, alongside a selection of local food, drink, crafts and family entertainment.
New to this year’s line up are singer/songwriter and ‘Belfast’s answer to Etta James & Janis Joplin’, Mama Kaz, the widely acclaimed Malojian, whose music has been described as ‘charming, heartfelt and beautiful’, ‘an eclectic mix of folk, rock and soul’ from Chrisy McCullagh and ‘chillbilly roots’ from Wookalily.
Returning will be crowd favourites from last year, Wes Grierson and the White Mansions – whose music will have you dancing, toe tapping and singing along.
The outdoor nature tent will be on site, with displays of traditional crafts and hands on activities and entertainment for children. We are also pleased to welcome back Hilden Brewery’s award winning local ales and Root and Branch Organic’s ‘field kitchen’ with the best of local organic produce. The event which is being sponsored by Hilden Brewery and Lisburn City Council is sure to be a great family day out.
From some of the reviews of 2012’s event –
“All in all, Gig in the Garden was a beautifully organised event. Family friendly and fun for everyone else, the heady combination of local brews, local grub, local music and local people meant that the sunshine and gorgeous backdrop was the icing on the cake. Everyone knows it’s good to support local, but the Gig in the Garden proved, not only that it is easily done, but also that we’ve a hell of a lot of be proud of.” – BBC Across the Line
“This is how summer ought to be: good food, good music, kids running barefoot in the grass.
A warm-hearted, friendly openness, and a palpable sense of enjoyment at the blue skies, heavenly home-made food (courtesy of Root and Branch Organic), great local beers (mine ‘s a Belfast Blonde) and effortlessly chilled-out music.
I don’t know about you, but I could do with more days like this.” – Fionola Meredith, Culture Northern Ireland.
