DIrector of the Salon Culinaire at IFEX, Sean Owens, has teamed up with Brendan Baxter, a multiple gold medal winning chef from IFEX 2012, to urge all young culinarians to get their entries submitted to The ChefSkills Theatre competition before the entry deadline of 8th February 2014.
Suitable for both chefs from industry and student chefs, ChefSkills is the Province’s most-respected culinary competition and is a feeder competition for UK Skills.
The Salon Culinaire, of which The ChefSkills Theatre is part of, is taking place at the forthcoming IFEX event and is supported by the Department for Employment and Learning (DELNI) and Stephen’s Catering Equipment.
There are 14 categories open for entry including Modern Trend – World Cuisine; the NI Caloriewise Award, sponsored by the Food Standards Agency and the ultimate accolade – IFEX Chef of the Year, supported by the Department for Agriculture and Rural Development.
From Tuesday 11th March to Thursday 13th March, at the Kings Hall approximately 250 chefs will compete in The ChefSkills Theatre and La Parade des Chefs – the team event for the Province’s best culinary colleges.
