Blooming wonderful Rose Week
Everything is blooming beautifully as Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park prepares to host its annual Rose Week from Tuesday, 14 July to Sunday 19 July.
Miss Northern Ireland, Leanne McDowell, helped launch the event which regularly attracts thousands of people.
Rose Week has been a major family attraction for the last 40 years – and every year they try to make it even better!
This year there will be a free shuttle service running every 20 minutes from the City Hall, Donegall East to Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park. There will also be free street entertainment to amuse people while they are waiting and to attract visitors who may not have heard about Rose Week.
There will also be a free park and ride at Drumbo Park. The shuttle services mean it is even easier for families and others to attend Rose Week which has entertainment and activities to please everyone.
Besides more than 1,000,000 blooms to admire visitors to Rose Week can enjoy music, dance, singing, magic, balloon modelling, face painting, bouncy castles, plus a range of free workshops including Flower Power, Jolly Sands, Bricks4kidz, Clay Spider and JunkArt.
Music includes everything from swing to metal technology.
The City of Belfast International Rose Trials will be judged on Thursday 16 July when judges from all corners of the globe will be in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park, with the award winners being announced that evening during a dinner at Belfast City Hall.
Rose week activities will run daily from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. More information is available at www.belfastcity.gov.uk/roseweek
