The Belfast Food Tour
What a way to spend nearly 4 hours on a Saturday!
Yes, for only £35 each, we spent around 4 wonderful hours with local foodie Caroline as she revealed some of her secrets about the Belfast food scene during her Belfast Food Tour. As she says, it’s her tour, her Belfast, and within minutes of the tour starting we were all discovering new things about food in Belfast.
The tour starts in the foyer of St George’s Market at 1030am. I know a lot of traders and what they sell (I have a weekend stall there), but Caroline still managed to open my eyes to some of the foodie delights the market has to offer. Who knew there were so many award winning food producers there?!
The food consumption began…
Before we even left the market to continue on this foodie journey through the city we had eaten potato bread, Guinness bread, sausages, drank tea and cider and more. And that was just the beginning.
What happens on tour, stays on tour!
I don’t want to give away too many tour secrets (and neither does Caroline), but you’ll get to taste the best champ in the city. You’ll learn about the best food producers in NI, and you’ll eat award winning delights. You’ll visit some great foodie places and taste some treats you may never have tried before.
You’ll experience coffee like you’ve probably never tried it before and drink Belfast tea and Belfast beer. You’ll be learn why Northern Ireland is regarded as one of the 50 hottest trends, places or people in food. (source)
The amount of food and alcohol consumed was astounding for the £35 tour price. You will finish your 4 hour tour stuffed and maybe even a bit tipsy.
Caroline is a foodie expert and a fountain of knowledge and probably the best tour guide ever. She has the right mix of enthusiasm, knowledge and passion. A real treat and the Belfast Food Tour is surely ranked as one of the best of Belfast.
