#BEAUTYBITCH Lips & Brows…
It’s so darned cold outside and the elements really take their toll on my lips – I am constantly plagued with dry, chapped lips most winters unless I am meticulous night and day with balms, butters and creams. So this week I have fallen in love with Clarins’ new product, the very aptly named Lovely Lip Balm. And it does what it says on the cover, in that it embalms your lips in a lovely way!
It’s a deliciously irresistible lip balm which has a little secret: an intelligent pigment at the heart of its formula reacts with the lips’ pH to develop a personalised natural pink shade. Rich in cocoa butter, shea butter and redcurrant, the lip-hugging texture helps to repair and nourish whilst the peachy fragrance smells good enough to eat. (It really does smell REALLY good!) Plus – green points to Clarins for the eco-developed packaging which is sourced from sustainable forests with printed kisses that will make you want to pucker up. The balm costs £16 and is on shelf on 12 March, just in time for Mother’s Day. It’ll be fun to see what shade of pink all your mums’ lips’ pH makes!
This week I also visited the Benefit counter in House of Fraser, Belfast to have my brows done professionally by Natasha at the brand’s dedicated brow bar. Thankfully I almost never touch my brows and have been lucky enough in the past to get away with the odd pluck here and there and a threading session once in a wonder, but the ladies at Benefit sat me down and shaped me, tinted me and added definition (without going crazy-lady-Scouse-brow on me) in about 30minutes. The overall result was a naturally defined shape and a really positive change to the frame of my face. It allowed for a better make up application later that day (I was heading out that night) and I was able to really smoke up my eyes because I had the slightly stronger brow to balance it out. In fact, Natasha’s counter partner Rachel smoked me up using Stay Don’t Stray eye shadow £ 22.00 with Shadow Blender Sexy Smokin’ £ 19.50 which I ended up buying!
And a side note here is that if you can’t get out to the Benefit counter to get your brows or make up done, this is one product I would definitely advise ordering online (ideally from my fab fave Irish online site www.cloud10beauty.com which has just launched Benefit to the site -but more on these guys over the coming weeks).
The products used to create my brow included:
- Precisely My Brow £ 18.50
Gimme Brow no 5 £ 18.50
They’re Real Duo Mascara £ 19.50
Personally, I had slight pinkiness after the waxing – see pic below – (my face isn’t used to wax!) but it died down very shortly afterwards & I was able to go about my day as normal after Rachel applied some Hello Flawless foundation (Honey shade) £26.50 and some Matte Rescue £21.50 – which really did save the day. Well, not literally, it did its job in concealing the pink, which is exactly what was needed at the time.
All in all, a great result that I was super pleased with.
And my daughter Valentina (aged 5) got a slick of lip gloss and even got the job of taking my ‘after’ pic at the counter and then later at home… Bless her and her Insta-daughter status already.
