Beauty Bitch – Going Super Sonic

As the warmer weather approaches (fingers crossed!), we can all be guilty of neglecting our skin and the dehydrating effects of the summer sunshine, so this month I have sought out one of the most hydrating moisturisers from Clinique. But before hydrating I needed a good cleanse to rinse my skin of dermal debris, and so top of my list was the Clinique Sonic Cleansing Brush (£79) which is suitable for all skin types.

My first impressions were how light, compact and ergonomic the brush is. It is also waterproof, meaning you can use it in the shower – perfect when you don’t have a lot of time. The small brush head is easy to angle which allows you to move it around the face easily, and the results were almost instant, it immediately eliminated any trace of roughness and dryness.

The brush cleverly has two different bristly intensities, the harder green section, which is for unclogging pores at the T-zone and then the luxuriously soft white bristles which are designed to be used all over the face, I found this gentle brush head less harsh on my skin.

I followed Clinique’s recommendation, which was to use the brush for 30 seconds once daily to begin with, the brush conveniently stops automatically after this time and the quick routine limits the time the bristles are on the skin, meaning you don’t overdo it. I gradually built up to one minute, twice daily, using the brush for 5 seconds on my forehead, 5 seconds on my nose and 5 seconds on my chin followed by 15 seconds on each cheek. After using this regularly, my skin felt brighter and there was an added glow to my complexion. The power of sonic vibrations and 35,000 tiny bristles on my skin has revolutionised my cleansing routine!

I decided to try a locally designed product alongside my Sonic cleanser – and have fallen hook, line and sinker for the Skinician Pro-Radiance Enzyme Cleanser, (£24.95). I am a big fan of Skinician products so I was excited to try this one – and it didn’t disappoint.

The smell was amazing, it felt like a mini spa session and one pump of the foam seemed to just melt my make up off, with little effort needed. After being on the go all day the easy routine was much appreciated! Afterwards my skin felt super clean and definitely looked brighter.

The cleanser contains a powerful blend of natural ingredients – passionfruit, grape and pineapple which combine to aid the removal of dead skin cells while prickly pear helps to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process. This reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and promotes skin luminosity for a more youthful complexion. The natural ingredients were powerfully softening and really helped to restore my skin’s balance, a definite 10/10!

My final product was Clinique’s newest moisturiser, The Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (£34). The product is said to extend and prolong moisture for a full 24 hours while taking into account changes in temperature and humidity. My job can take me anywhere and as I am constantly on the go, I always like to keep my skin moisturised – it is fair to say that a product which lasts 24 hours is definitely top of my wish list!

I opened the jar to find a lightweight, pale-peach cream gel. Upon application, the cream instantly felt comfortable and left a smooth veil over my skin, conveniently covering any fine lines – an instant hit with me!

I also used this as a 5-minute facial mask, applying it liberally after I had cleansed before massaging into skin and removing any excess moisturiser with a tissue.

Flakiness seemed to just fade away, and was replaced by a more vibrant and supple complexion.

The super-rich moisturiser contains several antioxidants, repairing ingredients and cell-communication ingredients which allows skin to re-hydrate and repair itself, leaving skin divinely smooth and soft.

What I loved about this moisturiser is the fact that the hydration technologies allow skin to adapt to different conditions. In today’s fast-paced world where we are on the go for longer hours and exposed to many climate changes it is important that we keep our skin hydrated and this moisturiser does just that.

My skin definitely experienced a new level of hydration from the very first application and it continued to feel luxuriously hydrated throughout the day and night.

So now that my skin is hydrated and ready to face those warmer months I guess it is time to start that health regime!
