As The Olympics draw to a close I’ve made this week’s column’s theme a beauty athletic one… Namely… Ready, Set, GLOW!
In this blog I’m reviewing the perfect products to help you achieve the most perfect head-to-toe glow! From oils, highlighters, blushes and lotions – there is no excuse to be looking dull this season despite the typical Irish weather. Thank me later!
1. Darphin – Revitalizing Oil:
This product is an all-rounder for me, definitely worth investing in and endless ways to use this bad boy! I use this as a hair mask once a week, to prevent my locks lacking in shine or appearing dead at the ends. I keep on for as long as possible before shampooing off – I recommend warming the oil up in your hands before applying to the hair… Also, I’ve been known to mix this oil into my night cream to work its magic overnight – just one or two drops does the job! That’s what’s great about this product, a little goes a long way!
Finally, I apply this on any areas on the body that I feel are a little dryer than the rest, for example: my elbows and knees in particular. It’s also great for applying anywhere that self tan may stick or go patchy – it’s like a drink for your skin!!
2. Smashbox – Crush On Blush Palette:
This product is definitely appropriate for this post as it covers every type of glow under the sun (make-up wise, that is…) with 4 shades of blush, a bronzer, and a highlighter – this should be in every girl’s make-up bag!
The blushes add such a healthy pop of colour to the apples of the cheeks whilst the bronzer offers a toasty warm, sun-kissed look to the rest of the face for a ‘just-back-from-holiday’ glow! Finally, the highlighter in this palette is very soft and subtle, perfect for daytime make-up….
3. Too Faced – Candlelight Glow:
I LOVE Too Faced products and I’m a sucker for their packaging, it’s just adorable! This duo of illuminating powder highlighters gives a youthful radiance to the face, making it appear super healthy! This is every girly-girl’s must-have product, so cute and dainty! Using a small angled brush, I swipe this over the top of my cheekbones, tip of my nose and cupids bow for a lovely illuminating effect!
4.PUR – Moonlight Glow Strobe/Highlight Palette:
Last highlighter, I promise! I just had to give this a mention, as I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I’m not normally a fan of cream highlighters (apart from Benefit Moonbeam which I ADORE), but this one is amazing, as it sets beautifully into a powder finish! I use a beauty blender to apply this on top of my foundation, using dabbing motions to warm up the product whilst setting it onto my face creating a healthy dewy radiance! These highlighters definitely live up to their name ‘moonlight’, as they could almost blind somebody when it hits the light – perfect for photo-shoots, or an Instagram selfie, or just a night out on the town, as it photographs beautifully!
5.Dirty Works – Shimmer Lotion:
Ok so were talking gold and sparkly with this next product – think Cleopatra! Ok maybe not as intense as that…
This little bottle of golden, shimmer body lotion is a great way to #GetTheGlow, not to mention the fact that it smells delicious!
I prefer to use this product for more dressier occasions – such as night-time events or when I’m showing a little more skin. This is a perfect little touch for the chest and pins, as the skin looks and feels super soft while also appearing radiant.
I advise anyone who wants to try this product to apply onto already tanned skin, as it is quite shimmery and radiant with bronzy undertones and therefore it may not look as good on pale skin! Less is definitely more with this product – and just the teensiest smidgen might work well in your body lotion if you’re nervous about the full #blingiton effect… But, at £4, how could you resist?!
