Autumn Bliss at @slievedonard with @hastingshotels

20131025-133314.jpgA few weeks ago, tagged on at the end of a cruise, I booked in for the Autumn Bliss special offer at Slieve Donard. You’d think after a week on the Med relaxing that a spa day wouldn’t really be needed, but it ended up being a highlight of the week off work. Quite simply it was a piece of Autumn Bliss.

I arrived at the stunning setting of the Slieve Donard at 1045 on a Monday morning to give me plenty of relaxing time in the spa area before my 12 o’clock treatment time.

Chilling out in a sauna with amazing views overlooking the Mournes and the Irish Sea could only be described as bliss! Even better, as it was Monday morning, I had the place to myself!

The spa areas in Slieve Donard are split into separate male and female areas both with the stunning views.

At 12 I was taken into the treatment room for what was easily the best massage EVER! I had upgraded to a full body hot stone massage and for only £30 extra it was worth it.

I’ve had massages in the past where they think that rubbing some oil in does the trick, but I need more than that, there has to be elbows involved!! So without even saying that, the masseuse just knew instinctively that’s what my back needed.

I left the treatment room more chilled out that I’ve been in a long time. It was just a total zone-out which lasted for at least a week…truly Autumn Bliss!

If you need a treat day, then this is the place to go to. The basic package includes an ESPA Boutique facial, scalp massage, and an aromatherapy back, neck and shoulder massage. You have full use of the spa area including the swimming pool and gym and you get to use the luxurious robe, slippers and towels. It all finishes off ( or starts with) a delicious lunch using only the best local ingredients.

The spa experience is £99 at Culloden and £105 at Slieve Donard Mon-Thurs with a £30 Fri-Sun supplement.

The full body hot stone massage is £30 to upgrade.

It’s definitely worth splashing out and treating yourself or someone special.
