The Northstars B team hit the road this week as they aim to build on their success against the Ashbourne Giants on opening day; the Cavan Comets are the opponent. They hope to fare better than their A team counterparts on the weekend.

A windy Henry Jones Field welcomed the newly formed Dublin Tigers to Belfast on Sunday, and it was the visitors that came away on top in both games. Despite valiant fightbacks from the Stars, the first game was lost 6-3 and the second 14-12. Great spirit shown by the Northstars in both games, however the few mistakes made were capitalised on by the very talented visitors – they’re definitely a team to watch in the league this year.

After having a week off, the ‘B’ Northstars will return to action against the Cavan Comets, a team that has shown great improvement over the past couple of years and are not a side to be taken lightly. The Stars lineup will contain Melvyn Woods, a former Comet who joined the Belfast team this year. His bat will be a great addition to the Northstars who are also hoping that he will develop into a true pitching option alongside his brother Colin.
