It happens every year, and the numbers don’t stop getting higher!!! Those birthdays keep rolling in seemingly faster than ever. But when they do happen, the best feeling is people actually taking time out of their day to acknowledge it, something I rarely do, but plan to address it. Enough of this grumpy old man thing, it’s time to start spreading the love!
48… that’s this years number, 2 years away from 50. Not that I’m counting! (I am really 😳 )
So what makes a 48 year old in denial of his age happy. I guess it’s the simple things. The fact that my 10 year old nephew was the first birthday wish to come in via whatsapp before he went to school. Then when my mum texts me the birthday song from her holiday. Or when Keith comes home after work with a birthday dinner, PIZZA! It really is the simple things that mean the most.
Don’t get me wrong, the occasional gift is lovely as well!
So what gifts came my way:
Top of the list… FUNNY GIRL!
I’m going to Dublin to see Funny Girl… it doesn’t get any better. A night at the theatre to see a musical. And a musical forever associated with the legend that is Barbra Streisand.
Get tickets for Funny Girl at the BORD GÁIS ENERGY THEATRE, DUBLIN in July here.
My chum Avril over at A Life To Style blog surprised me with a Field Day Gorse candle and car fragrance. She couldn’t have chosen a better car scent, Wild Rose from Field Day. It smells amazing, like Turkish Delight… LOVE!
Talking of Turkish Delight… these Spirit of Summer delights…. oh my!
A birthday isn’t a birthday without cake and prosecco; and they came thanks to M&S… how did they know! I love love love their buttercream cakes, but I love love love Prosecco maybe a bit more (It’s in the fridge chilling for later)
Check out this surprise card!
One of my stockists handed me a birthday card when I was delivering stock. I nearly cried. How sweet and thoughtful (but cheeky!). Thanks Doodle & Boom xxx
Then there was spending my birthday with this little madam, I got unlimited hugs and affection. Could you ask for any more?
As I’m at home dogsitting, rather than going out for lunch, it was time for an M&S meal, and what better than their Dish of the Week. Hello Spiced Aubergine with Chickpeas and Velvety Houmous. I’m definitely digging the vege options for my meals these days.
Oh and happy birthday to my birthday twin who celebrated with a wild night out at Belsonic last night. Just to be clear, we aren’t twins, we aren’t related, we are blogger mates born on the same day 15 years apart!
This picture sums up the night! Not very flattering for any of us but look at the pure unadultered joy! My sister (the blonde at the front) just knocked a pint out of my hand and we were all excitedly waiting for #greenday! And what a fab gig it was tonight! #bday #giggles #sister #friends #belsonic #greenday #belfast
