Adventureland weekend for Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB), in association with, is challenging everyone to get out and experience Northern Ireland’s great outdoors by taking on an exciting outdoor activity during the annual Adventureland Weekend which takes place on April 5 and 6.

Northern Ireland Adventureland Weekend is offering families, friends, beginners and adrenaline seekers, over 55 fun outdoor events at a lower rate of either 50% off or £10pp. Over the weekend, events will take place at locations right across Northern Ireland meaning there is something for everyone!

This year, Bangor-based, 2014 Winter Olympic star, Aimee Fuller, more used to snow, joined NITB and Outdoor to help launch 2014’s Northern Ireland Adventureland Weekend.

Aimee said: “I love getting time off and spending it outdoors here at home in Northern Ireland where the variety of outdoor activities has really grown. What makes it even more fun is that you’re surrounded by gorgeous scenery, loads of fresh air and because of the geography here you could be at a mountain location in the morning and in the afternoon splashing about in the sea. The events being offered over the Adventureland Weekend are great; they suit all levels of fitness and ability which means that everyone can get involved from families with kids to bunches of friends just out for a laugh. My advice is to get out there and prepare for an adventure!”

Adventureland Weekend highlights how accessible outdoor activities are in Northern Ireland and how easy it is to build an entire adventure weekend around getting outdoors and getting active, as Julie McLaughlin, NITB Activity Tourism Officer explains.

“Northern Ireland really is a land full of adventure – you only have to look at the amazing variety of fun things to do and places to visit during Adventureland Weekend to see that and what’s great is that all of these activities are available all year round. The trial offer prices for activities during Adventureland Weekend mean people can easily try out two or three activities over the Saturday and Sunday and take full advantage of the great value short break deals we currently have,” said Julie.

With no prior experience required, anyone can book onto a ‘come and try it’ session to have a go at activities like kayaking, mountain biking, surfing, orienteering, archery and horse-riding as well as experience some more unusual activities like grass sledging, caving or land-paddling.

Booking is essential. For a full list of Adventureland activities and to book online go to:
