A beach break in Puerto Banus with Jet2
Last month Jet2 whisked us off on a media trip to Malaga. During our first two nights in Malaga we were shown the highlights of the great city break location which I’ve already blogged about here.
After our great two night city break, it was beach resort time and the uber glam Puerto Banus. Approximately a one hour transfer from Malaga, we checked in to our hotel, the H10 Andalucia Plaza. Arriving in the huge foyer the whole group let out a collective, wow! The hotel is 40 years old, but is thoroughly modern and actually quite special. It’s spacious, glamorous, contemporary and fits in perfectly with the rich and exclusive image you might already have of Puerto Banus!
After a quick tour of the hotel spa, business facilities, rooms and pool, we had the afternoon to ourselves. I decided to make use of the spa for an hour before going for a walk along the beach. The spa pool, sauna and steam room proved a great escape from the busy few days we’d had already and was a great way to relax for an hour.
Next stop was to check out the filthy rich Puerto Banus via the beach. 15 minutes walk from the hotel under a subway tunnel and I was splashing about in the late afternoon surf. You can’t beat the sight and sound of the waves to relax the mind!
Just round the corner was the marina of Puerto Banus, filled with multi million pound yachts and surrounded by cars more expensive than my house. If you’ve watched The Only Way is Marbs, you’ll be familiar with the area. Yachts, cars, high end fashion boutiques and money. I was personally more impressed by chilling on the beach, but hey, it is what it is; buzzing with people relaxing as they walked along the promenade, or having a drink, or lunch, or just watching the world of the rich and famous, checking out Ferrari’s, Bentley’s, Maserati’s and more.
The hotel was half board so we met up for a drink at the pool bar before going to the restaurant for its themed meal. Every night they have a different theme to mix up the dining experience if you’re staying for 7 nights. Then it was time to relax in the foyer which had transformed in to a chilled out club night with a DJ. It has a great atmosphere and very very cool!
A great choice by Jet2 to team up with this particular hotel. We will be back.
The following day after a big breakfast, we hit the road on a tour to Ronda. A town built on the top of cliffs. I don’t know if it’s a Unesco World Heritage site yet or not, but it’s surely destined to become one. What a beautiful and historic town.
Then it was off for wine tasting in Moro Santo vineyard with stunning views overlooking the valley. Tasting a selection of Spanish wines before we’d eaten lunch, well, you can imagine how we were starting to feel. MoroSanto can organise their own transfers from Ronda to the vineyard and winery where they can spoil you with wine, food and a tour of their historic site.
Our two nights at the H10 Andalucia Plaza were superb. Having pre dinner drinks beside the pool in October with live entertainment, or relaxing in the foyer with a DJ after dinner were lovely ways to spend the evening. Alternatively, jump in a taxi and go partying in Puerto Banus.
What a great trip, and so easy to get to with Jet2 direct flights from Belfast International to Malaga. If you are booking a holiday package, the transfers from the airport to the hotels are included. Check with the hotel for information on tours to Ronda.
